Fr. Griffin was born in Dorchester, Mass and grew up in West Roxbury. He is a product of the Boston Public Schools and graduated from Boston State College. He worked for several years as a respiratory therapist prior to entering St Johns Seminary in 1980. While at the seminary, he served as Master of Ceremonies, assisting many of the wonderful liturgical celebrations that were hosted at the seminary, area parishes and the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. He was ordained in 1985 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. He served in an inner city parish from 1985-1991, where he continued to focus on liturgical celebrations and work with families and young adults.

In 1991, he resigned from the active ministry and returned to his work in healthcare. His love for liturgy and helping people create liturgical celebrations to mark important transitions has only grown over the years. Having been asked by many people to help them plan their celebrations, he has decided to begin to minister to families and individuals again, in order to help them appreciate and use the beauty of the Catholic tradition, without the limitations that the active ministers of the Church of Rome must live within.

In 2011, he joined the lay movement of CITI Ministries; an organization dedicated to the belief that the people of God are empowered to call validly ordained priests to ministry. As a minister of the Gospel under CITI Ministries auspices, he is fully licensed to witness your marriage vows, and to use the liturgical framework to guide you through any important transition in your lifes journey.
